Now on View - Kaitlin Pomerantz: (de)growth

Studio 105 at Ray Philly is proud to announce Kaitlin Pomerantz: (de)growth, a new solo exhibition and immersive installation by interdisciplinary artist and educator Kaitlin Pomerantz, whose new work transforms the gallery into a densely layered environment of overgrowth and repair, reimagining the visual language of American currency through collage, ceramics, handmade paper, etched coin works, and living plant installations. Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in Philadelphia, the exhibition considers the dollar not simply as a financial instrument, but as a designed object embedded with political ideology, cultural mythology, and evolving systems of value.

On view June 27 through August 2, 2026, Pomerantz’s exhibition excises presidents, monuments, slogans, and symbols of state power from U.S. banknotes, leaving only the ornamental botanical motifs, olive branches and acanthus scrollwork, which are cut, rearranged, and proliferated into sprawling pictorial gardens. The resulting compositions are teeming with vegetal abundance, proposing an alternative symbolic framework in which growth is ecological rather than extractive.

Hosting projects, exhibitions, and residencies, Ulises’ open-ended programming considers publishing as an incubator for new forms of artistic, editorial, curatorial, and pedagogical practice. Ulises sees the democratic potential of publishing as a vehicle for activism, education, assembly, and exchange.

A reading room developed in partnership with Studio 105 at Ray Philly partner and collaborator Ulises will accompany the exhibition presenting texts selected by the artist exploring economic repair, ecology, land stewardship, and decolonial futures.

The exhibition is curated by Sonya Tamaddon.

Studio 105 at Ray Philly is located on the ground floor of Ray Philly in artist studio 105, and is open weekly, Wednesday through Sunday from 12-6 PM. Please enter through Ulises (studio 104).
